Daily Devotional “Richly Blessed”

Daily Devotional for October 6, 2015

Proverbs 28

Scripture:

18 He whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but he whose ways are perverse will suddenly fall.

19 He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

20 A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

Observation:

Blameless, hard-working, and faithful seem like really good attributes for a man. When my nieces ask me for approval of the guy they want to marry, and they will, these are a few of the characteristics I will ask about. Hey single guys, write these down – you will thank me later.

Verse 20 says “a faithful man will be richly blessed.” God’s blessings are poured out in many different ways and are always what we need. Here is our challenge.

  1. Stay Blameless. Live your life fully devoted to Christ striving for holiness.
  2. Work Hard. You have heard the phrase, “grow where you are planted.” Work hard to be the very best “you” that you can be, wherever God has you and whatever He has you doing.
  3. Be Faithful. Be faithful to your family, to your job, to your church, and to your community.

To be richly blessed, what more can a man ask for?

Application:

  • Personal Application: Take a moment to thank God for who you are and where you are. Make a commitment to God to remain blameless, work hard, and be faithful.
  • Family Devotional: Read this passage to your family. Walk them through what it means to be blameless, hard-working, and faithful. Ask them what that verse means to them and how it applies to their life. Pray with them.

Prayer:

  • Personal Prayer Focus: Ask God for the ability to remain content in the life He has for us. Ask God for protection from envy, jealousy, and greed.
  • Family Prayer Focus: Pray that your family will learn these attributes and live by them. Pray that those who influence your family will also live with these attributes.
