Daily Devotional for November 14, 2015
Jeremiah 33
Scripture:
10 “This is what the Lord says: ‘You say about this place, “It is a desolate waste, without people or animals.” Yet in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem that are deserted, inhabited by neither people nor animals, there will be heard once more 11 the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the Lord, saying,“Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.” For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before,’ says the Lord.
Observation:
From time to time, it is important for us as Spirit-Empowered Men to put our entire attention on the Lord. “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good and His love endures forever.” Has a truer statement ever been spoken? The Lord is good and His love does endure forever. Because of that, we should give thanks. In this passage, the Lord is declaring that once again this will be the response of Israel and Judah. My prayer is that this will be our response today.
Today, we don’t need stories or further explanation. Today—Saturday, November 13, 2015—let’s devote our hearts to giving thanks to the Lord in everything and for everything. God is so good and what Jesus accomplished through the cross is more than enough to receive praise and adoration from us.
Application:
- Personal Application: All day, every time you think of it, give thanks to the Lord! Be sure to do this both in your heart and with your voice.
- Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Explain to them the importance of keeping the Lord first in your life. One response of a person who is fully devoted to the Lord is continually giving thanks, praise, and worship. Take a moment to discuss things you are thankful to the Lord for. Don’t forget to discuss how thankful you are for Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Sing a song of worship together or give praise with your family through prayer.
Prayer:
- Personal Prayer Focus: Give thanks to the Lord for who He is, His love for us, and for all He has done.
- Family Prayer Focus: Give thanks for your family.
