Daily Devotional “Don’t Forget It”

Daily Devotional for October 14, 2015

Jeremiah 2

Scripture:

31 “You of this generation, consider the word of the LORD: “Have I been a desert to Israel or a land of great darkness? Why do my people say, ‘We are free to roam; we will come to you no more’?

32 Does a maiden forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.

Observation:

Have you ever gone out of your way to help someone? Most of the time, people are very appreciative of the assistance and efforts invested by others. However, at times, people can be unappreciative, or even worse, disrespectful toward the person trying to help. These moments are definitely a test of our emotions, if we are the one trying to help. Knowing how difficult a situation like this is, I cannot even begin to understand how God feels in this moment. Time after time God has provided for the very people He created, only to have them turn their backs on Him and worship other gods. There appears to be pain in His voice as God is saying, “my people have forgotten me.” Once again, God expresses His desire to have a relationship with us. This illustrates how much He truly loves us. As a Spirit-Empowered Man, do not be afraid to give credit where credit is due by expressing appreciation and worship of who God is and for what He has done. I encourage you to praise and worship our Lord—personally, regularly, and often.

Application:

  • Personal Application: God is good. We should remember to express praise to Him personally, regularly, and often.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Help them remember that God is the source of our lives and we should express gratitude to the Lord as often as possible. Ask them what is one thing that they would like to say thanks to the Lord for. Worship the Lord together and express your appreciation for who He is.

Prayer:

  • Personal Prayer Focus: Ask God for the correct perspective as we walk this discipleship journey. Ask God to help you see His hand moving throughout your day and life.
  • Family Prayer Focus: Pray that the Lord will help them each remain thankful and grateful for His presence in their life.
