2 Chronicles 6
Scripture:
12 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.
13 Now he had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high, and had placed it in the center of the outer court. He stood on the platform and then knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven.
14 He said: “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth–you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.
15 You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it–as it is today.
Observation:
The Lord is faithful. This is proven over and over in scripture and over and over in our lives. Solomon celebrates the faithfulness of God upon the completion of the temple. The Israelites have built a permanent location that became the home of the Arc of the Covenant which symbolized the presence and protection of God. This is a significant moment in the lives of the Israelites. When God proves his faithfulness to us, we too should recognize it as a significant moment in our lives. I can tell story after story when God’s hand was on me and His faithfulness was realized. Remember these moments, in fact, I encourage you to write them down, they will sustain you when life gets tough. God is faithful, over and over again!
Application:
- Personal Application: We must strive to “continue wholeheartedly in [His] way” as the daily challenge for each of us. To keep moving forward no matter what situations or circumstances we are facing.
- Family Devotional: Read verse 12-15 to your family. Tell a story where God has “kept His promise” to you. Encourage them to “continue wholeheartedly in [His] ways” and remind them that God keeps his promises. Pray for your family.
Prayer:
- Personal Prayer Focus: Ask God for the ability to continue following Him “wholeheartedly” in His ways and to lead by example.
- Family Prayer Focus: Pray this scripture from verse 14-42 for you family. Insert “my family” into the subject of as many of the declarations as possible.
