2 Chronicles 4
Scripture:
16b All the objects that Huram-Abi made for King Solomon for the temple of the LORD were of polished bronze.
17 The king had them cast in clay molds in the plain of the Jordan between Succoth and Zarethan.
18 All these things that Solomon made amounted to so much that the weight of the bronze was not determined.
Observation:
If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well. Solomon had so many furnishing made that the weight was not determined. This is interesting to me as it seems that everything has a measurement in the building of the temple. Solomon shows us to give our all and hold nothing back when we are doing something for the Lord. I often challenge men to “do your best” in everything. As Spirit-Empowered Men we should give our all and do our best as an act of worship to the Lord. If you are married then give your all as a husband. If you are a father, then give your all as a dad. If you have a job, then do your best while at work. Solomon challenged us through this verse, when you are doing something for the Lord, give your all!
Application:
- Personal Application: Make a personal commitment to give your all in everything you are asked to do as an act of worship to the Lord.
- Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family and explain how Solomon spared no expense in building the temple. Encourage them to also give their all and to do their best in everything they do.
Prayer:
- Personal Prayer Focus: Ask God for the strength and endurance to go above and beyond when serving the Lord.
- Family Prayer Focus: Pray that God will instill a heart of sacrifice and giving into your family.
